A driver has died after his van became trapped under a semi-trailer in Melbourne’s west on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to Fuller Road in Ravenhall about 7.50am following reports a van had crashed into the back of a parked semi-trailer and became wedged underneath.

The driver, a 57-year-old man from Werribee, died at the scene.

Police were initially unsure of the number of people trapped inside the white van, but the driver was the sole occupant.

The exact circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are yet to be established, and an investigation is ongoing.

Ambulance Victoria and Fire Rescue Victoria also responded to the crash after receiving reports of a car accident from a triple-zero caller.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
