Truck driver dies after vehicle smashes into Queensland retirement home

A truck driver died after his vehicle smashed into a retirement village in south-east Queensland on Friday afternoon.
The man in his 50s was travelling along James Street in Newtown, Toowoomba, at 1.15pm when police said his vehicle collided with a Nissan X-Trail and then a unit block at an independent living village.
A woman who was inside the unit at the time was treated for shock.
Four people travelling in the Nissan were not seriously injured.
Forensic police have been tasked with investigating the crash.
Emergency services are expected to remain at the scene for several hours.
