Predictions: The Premier League Match Week 2 – you pick the winners

By Emma Kemp and Mark Stehle

A 4-0 romp at Wolves last weekend offered encouraging evidence that Pep Guardiola could take Manchester City back to the top, but it’s very early days, and Tottenham will present a stiffer challenge. A rejuvenated Richarlison and off-season signing Mohammed Kudus kicked off the Thomas Frank era in style against newly promoted Burnley, and Spurs will travel to the Etihad with their tails up.

Bryan Mbeumo, too, looked right at home in his new colours despite Manchester United’s familiar goalkeeping issues against Arsenal, and the former Brentford winger can further cement himself as a key element of Ruben Amorim’s rebuild away to Fulham. The Gunners, despite a 1-0 win, will seek a more convincing performance when they host Leeds United at the Emirates, with high-profile arrival Viktor Gyokeres under pressure after an uninspiring outing at Old Trafford.

And Newcastle will test their mettle against Liverpool after having settled for a draw against 10-man Aston Villa, the side they pipped for a Champions League spot on goal difference last season. Arne Slot’s reigning champions were pushed all the way by a burgeoning Bournemouth despite the deceiving 4-2 scoreline.

Chelsea, meanwhile, head to Stratford where both the Blues and West Ham are on the hunt for their first win after a draw and loss, respectively.

Fans in Melbourne can head down to Fed Square on Saturday night where Stan will be hosting a live site for the Manchester City v Tottenham match. The game kicks off at 9pm AEST but there will be plenty happening from 6pm.
